essay on student and election in english

Preface

In today's time, along with education, it is necessary for the student to have the experience of politics, that is why the election process is also organized among the student organizations in various universities.  Also, students are such an educated part of the society on which the future and development of the country depends.  That's why it has a very important place in the election.

Participation of students:- Participation of students in the process of electing representatives in Parliament, Legislatures and Autonomous Institutions (Municipality) etc. means putting the burden of responsibility on the youth, the educated youth of the country have proved their eligibility to elect their representative.  To do, help in nation-building by some enthusiastic and self-motivated youth.  Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru considered elections in a democracy as a university for imparting political education.  That's why taking education from the university of choice in student life is a symbol of progress and progress in national life.

Voting age 21 to 18 years: Young generation ie student class is educated and sensible, so it should get the right to express its feelings as a political unit.  The leader of the opposition in the then Parliament Shri LK Advani was the first to raise this demand.  Later, the Congress also decided to give it a legal form considering its interest in handing over the right to vote to the youth of 18 years.  As a result, on December 20, 1988, under the 63rd Constitutional Amendment, the Parliament reduced the voting age from 21 years to 18 years by amending Article 326 of the Constitution.  Due to this, the question mark on the relationship between student and politics has been removed.

A part of student politics: Now students have also become a part of politics. From Mahatma Gandhi to Loknayak Jai Prakash, every leader has emphasized on using the potential and energy of the youth ie students in a constructive and active manner in the interest of the country.  Pandit Nehru used to say, 'There should be an alternation between revolution and firm building in the society and this work cannot be done without the youth.  They can transfer the required energy.  Going further he says- 'The old lives for his remaining years while the young lives for eternity.'

Increase in the number of voters :- The benefit of reducing the voting age from 21 years to 18 years was that at that time about five crore students of India became voters.  They got the right to elect their representatives, represent and give mandate regarding future policies and programmes.  Now he will also be able to become the Chief Minister directly from the hostel like the former Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Prafulla Kumar Mahant.  Will be able to become MLA and minister like the students of Assam.  Will be able to contribute in the formation and operation of the province and the nation.

Students and democracy:- Even today forty percent of the people of India are illiterate.  How can an uneducated voter be expected to vote thoughtfully?  This is the reason why the vote of the slum and village society, which is often irrational, becomes a witness to the election camel and the intelligent vote of the educated people lags behind in the election race.  Student participation in elections is good for democracy.  In a democracy, it avoids the imbalance caused by voting by illiterate and uneducated voters.

Educational institutions are the arena of politics:- Today, due to elections, educational institutions are becoming the arena of politics.  The elections of the student unions in the universities are but a short form of the provincial elections.  By spending lakhs of rupees, the posts of president and secretary of the university are won.  When the flame of political selfishness flares up with the ghee of political rights, then how can there be hope of a pleasant result?  On the other hand, at this point of age, the student is not even intelligent enough to take his decision wisely and correctly.  In this condition, he does not even understand the definition of family responsibility.  If he is deprived of the ability to earn, then how would he understand the importance of election?  As a result, he will become a victim of the conspiracy of crooked and cunning politicians, petty leaders and selfish people like Kakka'ji.

Use of voting rights in national interest:- Student has more enthusiasm, less consciousness.  That's why the source of indomitable courage flows in full swing.  Due to lack of consciousness, if he diverts the stream of elections, then there will be change in the province or the nation, but change is never appropriate for the sake of change.  In spite of the above certain defects, on the basis of Disraeli's words 'The youth of a Nation are the trustees of the prosperity and almost every thing that is great has been don by youth.'  That is, the youth of the nation are the trustees of future generations and almost every great work is done by the youth only.

Conclusion

Handing over the franchise of election to the students or becoming candidates will be in the national interest only.  Secondly, he will be able to use this experience and practice of student life in the interest of the nation when he becomes an adult.  Thirdly, the second line of leadership will emerge in the country, which will not allow the absence of leadership in the country if the first line is removed.  Renowned litterateur and philosopher Jainendra gives a suggestion for this virtuous act.  'The enthusiasm of the youth should not remain only as heat.  If tenacity is also mixed in it, it can be very constructive.
